Hear It From Me

In recent years I have grown a passion for learning about smart technology that provides solutions to climate change and pollution. I was especially drawn to sustainability within the world of fashion not only due to my appreciation of arts and design but also due to the rise of sustainability influencers I follow; They have instilled a genuine drive and care for social change in me. I strive to make a difference with my signature project not only by creating sustainable alternatives to fast fashion but also by developing insight into the mindset of young consumers most affected by fast fashion through research on the consumerism habits of Emma students.

My Cause

COMBATING THE INDUSTRY BEHIND FAST FASHION

Although the industry of fast fashion arose in recent decades, the practices behind the industry have already gained notoriety, accounting for 10% of carbon emissions on our planet (a whopping 1.2 billion tons of carbon dioxide emitted per year) and further depleting our non-renewable resources. Younger consumers are often caught up in the changing trends and the instant gratification of fast fashion's purchasing power, but new movements in slow and sustainable fashion are growing in popularity, presenting a promising alternative to combat the vicious cycle of fast fashion.
